*****The Town of Lilesville has issued a Boil Water Advisory due to a water main break in the county affecting the water system.****
Boil Water Advisories may be issued when there is a loss of power, loss of water pressure, a water main break, or another unforeseen emergency. Water pressure helps prevent pollutants from entering the underground pipes that deliver drinking water to homes and businesses. When water pressure is lost, contaminants may enter the system.
Once water pressure or service has been restored, the water may not be safe to consume until testing confirms it is free of contamination.
Until the advisory is lifted, please use boiled or bottled water for:
- Drinking
- Making ice
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
- Food preparation
To make water safe for consumption, bring it to a rolling boil for at least one minute, then allow it to cool before use. Boiling is effective at killing disease-causing microorganisms.
This advisory is precautionary. It does not necessarily mean the water is contaminated, but there is a possibility of contamination due to the loss of water pressure.
The advisory will remain in effect until the Town of Lilesville completes the required water quality testing and announces that the water is safe to use without boiling.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
